Catalonia, a province or state in Spain, wants to separate from the country of Spain.

Why? Because this region of Spain argues that it is under represented. It is culturally different but also the most successful region of Spain.

The current Spanish government does not want to give Catalonia “disproportionate” representation.

The regional government in Catalonia wants to institute laws that give it more independence from the national government of Spain. The national government sent in national police to stop their action and arrest some.
